GOVERNORS TERM.
EXTENSION NOT LIKELY, i
HIS EXCELLENCY'S REGRETS.
" AWAY THIS TIME NEXT YEAR."
Reference to the approaching completion of His Excellency Sir Charles Fergusson's term as Governor-General of New Zealand was made at a function at the Blind Inslituto on Saturday, -when the new women's quarters were op6ned. Mr. A. J. Hutchinson, chairman of the board of trustees, said there were rumours that Their Excellencies might prolong their stay in New Zealand, He sincerely hoped that those rumours were correct, for nobody was more loved and respected throughout the lencth and breadth of the Dominion.
In replying His Excellency thanked the chairman for his kindly references to himself and Lady Alice Fergusson, but said ho was afraid that by this time next year both of thcin would be away from New Zealand. They would ever retain the happiest recollections of their stay in the Dominion.
