FLOODS IN TASMANIA.
VAST DAMAGE CAUSED.
WORKS MINISTER RETURNS
On account of tlic disastrous floods in Tasmania, Sir Walter Lee, Minister of Lands, Public Works, and Agriculture in Tasmania, was obliged to curtail bis visit to New Zealand, and he lelt for Sydney by tlic Ulimaroa yesterday.
Before leaving, Sir Walter Lee said that from information he had received be estimated the damage caused by the floods at about £1,000,000. He said he found it difficult to realise the extent of the damage. Sir Walter is anxious to return to Tasmania to arrange for necessary reconstruction works, which will be carried out by the Public Works Department.
