THE PLAINT OF A HOUSEWIFE.
HER DAY. We often hear the question: "Should « 'wife have a career?" Here is the ordinary day given by one: — t n.ln.—Up Invoa to see to and breakfast to get ready. 9 a.m.—Wash jip and clean up generally; dinner at one o'clock, which, incidentally; has to be cooked. 2 p.m.—Moro washing up, probably iro'hing or silver cleaning or mending to be done. 5 p.m.—Tea, more washing up. I might get five minutes to write a letter or i/ead. 3 p.m.—Supper, and washing up again ; breakfast to prepare, and if I'm lucky 1 sit down for an hour before going to bed./ Such is life. Now, what time have I or any similarly placed woman for a career?
