FEEDING THE BULL CALF.
VALUE OF GOOD APPEARANCE
We want to urge dairymen who are rearing pure-bred bull calves to be sold for breeding purposes to feed enough of the right kind of feed to give, at least, normal growth, says Hoard's Dairyman. Prospective buyers of dairy bulls like to see evidence ot plenty of size for age. The stunted bull calf, even though such a condition has no influence on the transmission of character by inheritance to the progeny, is at a disadvantage before the eves of"a buyer who is not certain whether the undersize is due to faulty feeding and management or to natural inheritance. If-bull calves are worth developing at all for breeding purposes they are worth giving opportunity for normal growth. -Save only the best ones and feed them well.
