ANZAC DAY OBSERVANCE.
Sir,—There is one point in the Gov-ernor-General's suggestions on the observance of Anzac Day which will reach the heart of all ex-servicemcn and women and that is his association of any ceremony with a cenotaph. The soldier mind does not think of memorials in terms of ,n»ssive museums-a simple cenotaph s the essential feature. Now is the time or the Auckland War Memorial Committee to state definitely whether and when thev intend to erect a cenotaph in tb„ Court of Honour in front of the If thev are hopelessly involved in debt t tSm say so at one. an d servico men and women of t.ie city can lake the matter in hand themselves and follow the lead so graciously given by s Excellency the Governor-General
