MATAMATA FINANCES.
BOARD'S SUCCESSFUL YEAR*

The 'annual report, submitted by tha treasurer to the Matamata Town Board shows the finances of the town to be in a buoyant condition, the district fund having a credit balance of £1676. During the year £4627 was spent on main highWays within the town, of which sum £1323 was received from the Main High-, ways Board.
llie hall fund showed receipts amounting to £2033, with a cash balance of £6lO. Hie water supply account was stated to be in a satisfactory position, the revenue being £874 and 'the credit balance £26.
. All the interest accounts were in credit, last year's charge for loan interest and hospital rate being £4707. The accumulated sinking funds amounted to £287.3. Hie gross public debt of Matamata, as at March 31, was stated to be £67,545, which was approximately ££lo per ratepayer.
