COMMUNITY SINGING.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR WINTER.
SEASON OPENS ON JUNE 5
The annual meeting of the Community Singing Committee was held recently and arrangement! l have been made for the singing gatherings to take place at the Town Hall, commencing on Wednesday, June 5. The song-book for this year lias been prepared and is now in the hands of the printers. The songs have been selected chiefly from a song-book, containing words and music, and the committee has been able to secure a large supply of these books for sale at the hall. The sale price will allow a profit which, it is hoped, will help to meet the increased expenditure necessitated by the engagement of the Town Hall, as neither the Strand nor any other suitable theatre is available. The committee, now increased by the addition of several enthusiastic members, is determined to make this year's gatherings even more successful than they have been in the past. The primary object,, is to afford an opportunity, one hour each week, for workers and others to forget their business and other worries by the mass singing of old and new songs. The committee hopes that generous contributions will appear in the collection boxes and enable it, as in the past, to contribute to some of the deserving charitable associations in the city. The new committee consists of Messrs. V. T. Drew, chairman, At. Guthrie, L. A. Eady, W. Metcalfe, R. L. Paterson, T. S. Bellamy, H. A. Corringham, W. Manning, N. Tucker, C. E. Clarke, A. Don, H. Stewart, M. Nola, H. J. Beavis, G. Grey Campbell and \V. Woodhead, honorary secretary.
