.THE SENIOR COMPETITION.
NEW CLUB ADMITTED.
DRAW FOR OPENING ROUND. The management committee of the Auckland Rugby League met last evening, Mr. G. Rhodes presiding. A lengthy discussion followed an application from tho nev.ly-formed Kingsland Athletic Club for inclusion in tho senior giade A. Mr. H. Cattcrall, in supporting tho application. said u. strong team would be placed in tho field. Mr. E. Kedwood opposed the claim on the grounds that the senior grade A should be kept up to tho highest possible standard. Tho chairman said ho did not favour the request. Another team in senior grade A meant heavier claims for insurance, and from past experience tbo league would ho unublo to pay the expenses incurred. Tho request was eventually agreed to.
Tho Mount Albert Borough Council forwarded particulars of a leaso of a sports ground in tho borough, and asked for financial consideration. Tho matter was left in tho liund3 of a deputation. It was decided to issue special eeasoti tickets to all inmates of tho hospital shelters. Sixteen applications for registration of eonior players were approved Tho following sub-committees were appointed:—Finance, Messrs. F. Ellis, (J. Gregory, W. Miucham. 11. Cattcrall; grounds, Messrs. W. J. Davidson, W. Mincfiam, B. Longbottoui; insurance, Messrs. S. Freeman, C. Adamson, R. Doble, E. Redward. It was decided to play a scries of matches at C'arlaw Park on Saturday. The matches will bo of 35 minutes' duration. Several running and a.thletio events will also be included in the programme. Following is the draw:—
Section A.—Newton v. Richmond, Cariaw Park No. 1, 2.30 p.m.; City v. Marist, Curia w Park No. 1, 3.20 p.m.; Devonport v Ellerslio, Cariaw Park No. 1, i p.m. Section B: Paruell v. Mount Wellington, Cariaw Park No. 2, 2.30 p.m.; Ivingslund v. Northcote, Cariaw Park No. 2, 2.30 p.m.
THE OPENING MATCHES. Following is tho draw for tho first series of matches in the club championship, which will commence on Saturday week:— Section A.—Newton v. Marist, Ponsonby v. Devonport, Kiugsland Athletic v. City, Ellerslio v. Richmond. Section B: Otahuhu v. Mangere, Richmond v. Northcote, Point Chevalier v. Parnc!l.
