Tim political correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that, if Mr. Baldwin \vins ( tho election Mr. Churchill will go (o the Dominions Office, Mr. Neville Chamberlain will become Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Sir William Joynson-Hicks will become Minister of Health. Sir Leslie Scott, Conservative member for (he Exchange division of Liverpool, who was Solicitor-General in the Coalition Government, has decided riot to seek re-election at the forthcoming general election, on the grounds of illhealth. Sir Leslie is ono of the most eminent members of the English Bar. His loss will bo felt by his party. His terms as chairman and member of a number of committees set up while the war was in progress to deal with questions of reconstruction, agriculture, housing, mining, electricity, etc., indicate the part ho has taken in public affairs. Tho Evening Standard publishes an analysis of prophecies made by Labour members of the House of Commons about the forthcoming general election. Tho optimists among the prophets on an average expect Labour to gain an absolute majority of 28 seats, Most of the makers of forecasts, however, are content with making Labour the largest party, but dependent on tho Liberals ,to hold office.
