GIANT VERSUS BUFFALO.
GRIM CONFLICT REVEALED. From Johannesburg news has been received of the discovery of fossilised bones of a giant man and beast, side by side, which conjure up in the imagination a deadly struggle in primitive ages, when human strength was often moro than a match for animal power. The find was reported bv roadmakers at Springbok Gluts, north of Pretoria, and the bones were removed 1o the Transvaal Museum, where a careful examination was made by experts. It was declared that the boast was a buffalo, estimated (o havo measured about lift., and there were indications that it hart met with,a violent death. Most probably man and beast had at tho close of a struggle following a hunt.
