HAMILTON RATEPAYERS.

LOCAL AFFAIRS DISCUSSED^ PRESENCE OF COUNCILLORS. [BT TELEGRAPH.—OWN" CORRESPONDENT-] HAMILTON. Friday. A conference of Ratepayers' Associations was held at Frankton last evening to discuss Hamilton municipal affairs. Mr. D. Wilson presided over a large attendance. Members of the Hamilton Borough Council attended and referred to the trading departments of the council and the tepid baths loan proposal. One member, Mr. W. Bourne, said he took exception to municipal affairs being discussed by members of the council, for it made it appear as if theiy desired to use the meeting for propaganda purposes. A dispute occurred between Messrs. J. E. Tidd and A. J. Denz regarding the baths proposal, and Mr. C. H. Warneford suggested that at future conferences it- might be advisable if members of the council were not invited. Discussion, he said, would then be conducted with greater freedom.
