At a meeting of the 'le Aroha Borough Council a statement was presented showing receipts and expenditure for the year ended March 31. The total revenue was shown as £23,472. This included the following: General and special rates, £6060;' permits and rents, £804; subsidies, £2464; goldfields revenue, £232; sale of metal from quarry, £1505; water rates and fees, £1471; sales'of electricity, £1781; abattoir fees, £1163. The year commenced with a (debit balance of £3070, and ended with a credit balance of £741. It was decided to abolish the meter rents formally charged to the consumers of electricity. /It was stated that in many cases the meters had been paid for in rents beverals times over. It was stated that during the year permits for? now buildings of a total value of £17,481 were issued. In connection with the effort to procure jn X-ray plant for Te Aroha. a canvass for subscriptions is now in progress. The funds in hand total over £2OO and a subsidy of £250 has already been promised by the Government. The net proceeds rf the ball recently held in aid of the fund were £53.
