PRESENTATIONS.
A presentation to Mr. E. R. Baddiley, who is relinquishing t.ho position of manager of the Star Hotel, Newton, which he has occupied for the past two years, was made by the staff on Thursday. In making the presentation, a gold cigarette case, Mr. F. Fraser spoke of Mr. Baddiley's qualities as a manager and a host. ■ Mrs. Baddiley was presented >&with' a silver manicure set.
A travelling rug was presented to Mr. A. S. Cliffe by the Fairfield, Hamilton, School Committee prior to Mr. Cliffe s departure for, Te Puke, where he has been appointed headmaster of the District High School. Mr. Cliffe has been headmaster at Fairfield for five years. The staff and pupils gave Mr. Cliffe a leather suitcase, and a tray was given to Mrs. , Cliffe.
Two prominent supporters of R u g\>y football in the Waikato, Mr. A. S. Cliff and Mr. F. Tooman, were farewelled at a. function given by, the Hamilton Rugby Union Club. Mr. Cliff, . who was a former, chairman of .wstho management committee of the club, has •• been appointed headmaster of the Te _.Puke School. Mr. Tooman, who' is also a school teacher on. transfer, is chairman of the local Referees' Association. MrCliff was presented.With a silver, entree dish and Mr. Tooman received a tobacco pouch and a case of pipes. ,
