INTOXICATED DRIVER.
FINE OF £lO IMPOSED,
STRONG COMMENT BY BENCH. [bx telegraph.—press association.] TE AWAMUTU, Sunday. For being, intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car Russel V. Clarke, who appeared in the Police Court yesterday, was fined £lO and his driver's licence was cancelled for two years. It was stated that accused, who had been a ta'xi driver and a resident of Kihikihi, with a companion had taken two girls' joy-riding. AH had partaken of liquor. . Tho Bench described accused as a menace on the roads and refused to let him have a licence to drive any vehicle, in spite of the fact that ho no longer was taxi-driving, but had work on a lorry.
