DEATH OF ADMINISTRATOR.
END OF A LONG ILLNESS. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NORFOLK ISLAND. Jan. 26. The Administrator of Norfolk Island. Mr. Justice Herbert, died at Government. House on January 21. For some years before coming to Norfolk Island the deceased had been in ill-health. It was hoped that the change to Norfolk Island would result in an improvement, but, in spite, of unremitting care, he passed away. During the few months of his regime he had demonstrated that his legal training and executive ability were calculated to be of immense benefit to the islanders, and his death is greatly deplored. The funeral was largely attended. No fewer than three' Administrators of Norfolk Island have passed away during the past 12 months. On January 25. 1928, Major-General V. C. M. Sellheim died on the island. Colonel Lean, a former Administrator, died in Melbourne last year. There was consternation among the 70 passengers anxious to reach New Zealand when the island representative received a cablegram from New to limit the booking by the Mail. Tomare to 55. Those who had. secured a return berth were given preference,
