HAMILTON EAST SCHOOL.

NEW MASTER TAKES CHARGE.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN- correspondent:] HAMILTON. Monday.

The new headmaster of (.ho Hamilton East school, Mr. W. A. Curteis, commenced his duties to-day. He has had a varied educational career. He was born in Ilalcombe 46 years ago, and was educated at the Halcomho school and the Wanganui Collegiate school.

Mr. Curteis served as a teacher in tho Wanganui Hoys' High School and the Campbell Street school. Palmerstou North. He was afterwards successively in charge of the Hautapu school, Taihape, the Mokoia. model observation school, and tho Kakaramea school. For seven years lie was headmaster of the Mangatoki school, where ho specialised in agriculture and gardening. He was an organising teacher under tho Taranaki Education Board, for six years, and two and a-half years ago ho was appointed headmaster of tho Tehapara school, Gisborne. Mr. Curteis has taken an active part in sports. He has been president of the North Wanganui and Taranaki branches of the Teachers' Institute.
