The combined Hamilton swimming clubs have decided to inaugurate a "learn to swim" week and an attempt is to be made to teach as many children as possible how to switu. The co-operation of headmasters of schools and practised swimmers is being sought, and lesssns are to be given at the Hamilton municipal baths between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday next week. INSTRUCTION IN SCHOOLS. PROPOSAL BY ASSOCIATION. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Saturday. At a conference of the educational officers of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, the following resolution was passed: "That an officer be appointed under the control of the Education Department for the organisation of swimming in the schools of the Dominion, instruction, of pupils, and lectures in the art of swimming, such officers to work under and in conjunction with the director of physical training, the number of physical instructors at present employed to b'e increased in order to carry out instructions. . Further, that the education boards be empowered to' avail themselves of the opportunity of utilising the services of the present educational officers by relieving such teachers of other school duties during a part of February each year to enable them to visit schools and to do further work suggested by the departmental officers in charge of school swimming." '
