RIVER BRIDGES COVERED.
FEARED LOSS OF YOUTH
BRISBANE. Jan. 23
It is feared that tho floods in the north have claimed one victim, a youth named Fairweather, who left Abercora three days ago to take food to his father, who was working in tho bush. He has not been seen since then, and it is feared he has been drowned. At Bundaberg the water is covering tho wharves to a depth of 9ft., and has entered many houses. Tho river bridges have been submerged at Proserpine, where an exceptionally severe flood is feared.
The Weather Bureau has issued a warning that a cyclone is developing between Cardwell, 950 miles north-west of Brisbane, Willis Island and Bowen.
