WHARF AT TOTARA NORTH
CONSTRUCTION OF BRIDGES
[BY TELEGRATH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] KAEO, Wednesday.
At a meeting of tho Whangaroa County Council a report was received of the completion of the now wharf at Totara North. It was stated the final payments had been made in connection with tho recently completed wharf at Whangaroa. It, was decided to apply for an additional 10 por cent, on tho wharf loan, the extras in connection with thexo works making this course nocessary. It was stated that the Public Works Department had engaged Mr. Wells, recently clerk of works on the erection of tho previously mentioned wharves, to supervise the construction of bridges in the Northern district. A start would bo made at once on the new bridge at Totara on tho main Kaeo-Mangonui road, also on Thomson's bridge at Victoria Valley.
The council decided to support tho resolution of tho Tauranga County Council in asking for further assistance from the petrol tax.
