RAILWAY REFRESHMENT ROOMS.
Sir, —1 have recently returned from Rotorua. I read in the Herald the remarks of the distinguished gentleman from overseas anent the neglected opportunities of Rotorua. I noted also his comment in regard to the lack of good accommodation He never made reference to the so-called "refreshment" rooms op the railside, and from this I take it that he never patronised them. It is well for New Zealand that he did not, for if he saw room for complaint in other matters he would have mad at the service rendered by the "refreshment" people. At a high price and after an unduly long wait, I purchased tea and sandwiches at one of these places. The tea was dreadful (I doubt whether it really was tea at all), and the sandwiches were made up of bad meat, butter and old, very old and hard bread. . . . Yes, Rotorua it a wonderful place. The opportunity for wonderful tourist traffic is undoubtedly at hand. From the boiling pools down to the what we named "trained" trout in the gardens we were impressed beyond description. It was a pity, though, that we were all sickened bv the bad service already mentioned. It aiso was impressive. Antidote.
