TRAFFIC CONGESTION.
Sir, —With regard to your sub-leader in Tuesday's Herald, I would suggest a way of redlining the congestion at busy intersections. Have two ro"ws of traffic on all four corners On a signal from the traffic officer all those at two corners in the in sifle row (ana those on the outside row who so wished) must proceed straight ahead. At the other two corners the outside row must turn to the left and join the moving traffic. Traffic on Grafton Bridge to be continuous An added advantage of this system would be that pedestrians could cross to the safety-zones from two corners free from traffic. Later on, when funds permit, the safety-zones on the left-hand side of the road facing the intersection could be moved back a short distance from the corner to make more room for two vehicles abreast.
