CAR AND TRUCK COLLIDE.
AUCKLANDERS INJURED. COLLISION AT A CORNER. A collision between a motor-car and a three-ton truck three miles north of Te Awamutu yesterday morning resulted in injuries to a party of Aucklanders who were returning from holidays. Mrs. Richardson, her daughter and grandson, were badly injured about the face, while the other occupants of the car, Mr. J. Maguire, of Parnell, the owner and driver, Mr. L, Boyle, of Parnell, and Mr. L. Braithwaite, of Park Road, received minor injuries and a severe shaking.
The car, a five-sealer sedan, was proceeding from Te Awamutu to Waitomo, and when near Kihikibi, a small settlement tliree miles north of To Awamutu, the collision occurred. The car was rounding a corner on the main road, when it crashed into tho lorry coming from the opposite direction. Tho shock was sufficient to break all the glass fittings in the car and smash the radiator and engine. The car had to bo abandoned, tho party returning to Te Awamutu, where medical attention was received. They caught tho daylight limited express at To Awamutu and arrived at Auckland last evening. Mrs. Richardson, who resides at Parnell, was tlie most seriously injured. Members of the party stated that it was very fortunate that tho accident was not attended by moro serious results, 'lho damage to the lorry was negligible.
