NORTHERN ROADS.
REPORT ON CONDITIONS. ADVICE FOR MOTORISTS. The Auckland Automobile Association reported yesterday that cither the east or west coast routes were available north of Wellsford. The distance from Whangarei through Waipu, Maungaturoto and Kaiwaka to Wellsford is practically the same as the length of the alternative route via Waipu and Mangawai, but the east coast scenery is superior. Just north of Mangawai a detour will bo necessary during bridge construction next week, traffic is advised to avoid the Puhoi-Warkworth Road, where road works are in hand. The Waiwera-Devonport Road is in fairorder, and the west coast route through Port Albert and Wellsford is in good order, with the exception of a few short stretches. Care should be exercised just north of Henderson, where new work is in hand. Yesterday afternoon a lorry blocked tho road at a point where work was proceeding.
