WEEK-END WEATHER. herald's Special forecast. The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 am. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Warm and humid weather is indicated, with cloudy to overcast conditions, and rain in many places, particularly in west coast districts. Scattered thunderstorms are likely in western areas, succeeded by a temporary change to cooler conditions. Westerly winds, moderate to strong, squally at times, backing to south. Rough seas off the west coast of both islands, and in Cook Strait, mainly moderate elsewhere. The extensive disturbance which is still centred south-westward of the Dominion is moving slowly northward, and boisterous weather is expected, especially in the South Island. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—A rather intense depression still covers the south Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand, but pressure is rising over south-east Australia. Indications are for strong winds between west and north-west, reaching gale force at tunes south of New Plymouth and Napier, backing to south-west within about 24 hours. Seas rough south of New Plymouth and Castlepoint. Elsewhere moderate to strong. West to south-west winds and rather rough to rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather still changeable, squally and unsettled, with intermittent rain south of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, later unsettled conditions extending to more northern districts.
