DANCE STEPS.
DON'T BE TOO FORMAL. In the old-fashioned sequence fiances one had to danco always the same steps in the same order, but the dances of today give one opportunity to show one's originality, one's imagination. Yet most dancers are still content to dance always the same few steps. They seem afraid even io copy a step they have seen danced, if their particular teacher happens not to have taught it to them. Why not try to get out of this rut of sameness? Be original. Invent new combinations of the steps you know, invent entirely new slops of your own; it's not so dreadfully difficult. Try it next time you axe dancing, when perhaps some phrase in the music will inspire you. All you need remember is to make your new steps in keeping with the character and basic movements of the dance, and not to make them too intricate; all of the most successful steps are of the simplest construction.
