REFUSAL TO LEAVE HOUSE.
How a warning that a tenement house might collapse at any time was ignored by eight families was described at a London court a few weeks ago when an application was made for an order for immediate ejectment. Mr. W. Perkins, Ilolborn district surveyor, said the police called him to a houso by telegram at 1.30 a.m. Ho found that as the result of a gale t.be front wall in the basement bad fallen in and a part of the footway supported by tho wall had collapsed and fallen into the cellar. Tho remainder of the front wall of the house was sinking and doors had jammed. An ejectment order jvas granted,.
