Mrs. E. ,1. Currio and family, of Ohura, and Mrs. A. B. Carpenter and her son, of Karaka, Papakura, are spending the summer holidays at Mount Maunganui.
MiSs V. Myers, accompanied by Miss Porrie Nelson returned to Auckland yesterday from a tour of the North Island. The latter will spend some time in Auckland.
Mrs. Willes arrived in Christchurch last week from England to visit her brother and sister-in-law, Sir Heaton and Lady Rhodes. Otahuna. It is nearly 35 years since Mrs. Willes last visited New Zealand.
The rswspaper Queen states that Vittoria Colonna, Duchess of Sermoneta, is leaving Europe shprtly for a prolonged etav in America. After visiting friends in New York the Duchess will be the guest of Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford at Hollywood. The Duchess of Sermoneta, who is one of Italy's most beautiful women, is English on her mother's side. Her grandmother, as the young widow of the Duke of Westmoreland's heir, went to Italy and married the Duke of San Teodoro, and their only daughter was the mother of the present Duchess of Sermoneta. The Duchess has been busy for some time past with her memoirs which will be published 'n America and England during this year. This will be the Duchess's first visit to America and she intends to write a series of articles on Fascismo for the American press.
