HOSTEL FOR MAORIS. CONTROL OF PETROL PUMPS. I lIY TELEOKAPII.—OWN COIMIEN PONWENT. I TUAKAU, Friday. The Tutikiiu Town Hoard met last evening, the chairman, Mr. VV. J. Taylor, presiding. Advice was received that the Minister of Native Affairs was prepared to grant u subsidy of pound for pound up to £250 toward tlm cost of erection of a hostel at Tuakati for natives. Members expressed pleasure at the Minister's decision.
The chairman stated that it was expected the overbridgo for livestock being erected at Tuakati railway yards would be available for use next month
lleport was made by the chairman that Mr. Walter Barnaby. Ilarrisvillo, Tuakau. was prepared to remove fences and other wise assist to provide art aeroplane landing ground for Tuakau as sought by the Auckland Aero Club.
ft was agreed to consider the declaring of a brick area in the central portion ot the town at a special meeting to be held on January 25. Application by tht Partners' trading Company for a building permit for now premises in brick in tin? main street to replace the company's premises recently destroyed by fire was granted. It was decided that no furthei permits lor the installation of petrol pumps on the footpaths be issued and that the removal of thoso at present on the footpaths be required bv April 2
