POWER FOR HIKURANGI.
PERIOD OF AGREEMENT. [BY TELEGRAFH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI, Friday. The Hikurangi Town Board, which has practically completed arrangements for the supply of electricity at a cost of £SOOO, has received a request from the engineer-in-chief of the Public Works Department to limit the period of agreement with the Hikurangi Coal Company to provide for an option of discontinuance at the end of three years in lieu of five years. This was not favoured by the board, and it was understood that the company would not agree without much greater charges. It was resolved that the clerk write to the engineer-in-chief accordingly.
