[by TELEGRAPH.-"-OWN correspondent.] HAMILTON, "Wednesday.
The business of tho standing committee of tho Waikato diocese, which mot yesterday, was almost-entirely confined to finance. Several retrenchments and reductions were mado, and it was hoped that in the near future the diocese would be able to carry on without exceeding its income. <,, \ It was stated that there had been a good rosponse from an appeal to the peoplo of tho parishes for funds, and £525 had beon obtained toward tho total sum of £I4OO required by March'3l. At the request of several' parishes in the Waikato archdeaconry the committee decided, to support the retention of the sei'vices of tho archdeacon. ' In connection' with tho Church's united peace committee manifesto, the following resolution was passed : That this standing committee does not feel itself able to advise the bishop of tho diocese to advise tho archbishop to sign the peace manifesto on behalf of tho province so far as this diocese is concerned.
