OBITUARY.

MR. THOMAS DENNIS.

The death ot Mr. Thomas Dennis, of Frankton, occurred at the Waikato Hospital yesterday. Mr. Dennis, who was 79 years of age, was born at Jersey, Channel Islands, and arrived in New Zealand iri 1873. lie joined the staff of the New Zealand railways, on which he saw 35 years' service. Most of his time was spent in engine-driving. Ho is survived by two sons, Mr. J. Dennis, of Frankton, and Mr. T. Dennis, of Oliakune, and two daughters, Mrs. B. Brown, of Otorohanga, and Mrs. N. Mahoney. of Wellington. There are 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

MR. JAMES EDWARD FULTON

The death is announced of Mr. James Edward Fulton, aged 73, one of the bestknown engineers in the Dominion. For eight years he was manager and locomotivo superintendent of the WellingtonManawatu railway He designed and built the Kelburn tramway, Wellington, and built many bridges for the Government and local bodies all over New Zealand. He retired from 'business in 1926. He loaves a widow and one daughter.

MR. DAVID STERRITT,

Mr. David Sterritt passed away at Pirongia ibis week, after a short illness, lie farmed in Northern Ireland until he was over GO years of age and then he and members of his large family came to New Zealand. After two years in Auckland Mr. Sterritt settled at Pirongia, later acquiring "Matakitaki" for his home, and soon won high esteem. During his 13 years' residence in (he district he assisted in all local affairs. For ten years he was a member of the Pirongia Domain Board, the Memorial Hall Committee, and several other organisations. Ten members of the family are in New Zealand and a married daughter is in Ireland. The funeral was one of ilie largest in tho district in recent years.
