THIEVES RANSACK HOUSE.
CONCERT PROCEEDS STOLEN. ARTICLES LITTERED ON FLOORS. [EY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CH RISTCHURCH, Monday. While Mr. V. C. Peters was conducting a concert given by the Harmonic Society on Saturday evening his home at Rcdcliifs was entered by burglars. The intruders stole Mr. Peters' war pension, which he had drawn on Friday, a considerable sum of money from ticket sales on behalf of tho Harmonic Society, three dozen gramophone records, a new travelling rug, a gold presentation fountain pen,'and a pair of opera glasses. All the floors of the house weie littered with objects which (ho thieves had scattcred. Ink was spilt on the carpets, drawers were emptied, and thn contents of wardrobes thrown out. The intruders searched all the pockets in each of Mr. Peters' suits, and all his correspondence was inspected. The burglars were probably disturbed, for a purse containing money was left on the kitchen tabic.
