MOTORING ACCIDENTS.
MAN AIA HILL TRAGEDY. FATHER'S TERRIBLE ORDEAL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] COROMANDEL, Mondaj. Tho injured survivors of tho fatal motor accident on tho Manaia Hill yesterday are progressing favourably in the Coromandel Hospital. The bodies of the three who were killed were taken to Thames this afternoon. The car was recovered this morning and, although much damaged, is not beyond repair. The driver, Mr. W. Wilson, whoso wife and father were killed, had to walk for about miles, although himself badly shaken, carrying his little, fatally-injured child. He reached tho residence of Mr. I'reece, who immediately took steps to enlist succour. In a short while Mr. W. Beech, county foreman, and Mr. D. Goudie, of Colville, in tho latter's motor-car, were on tho scene of tho accident rendering assistance. Thoy speedily conveyed the injured people to tho hospital, where they wcro attended by Dr. Rawstron. An inquest was opened this afternoon beforo Mr. J. Barker, J.P., coroner, but owing to tho inability of the injured, who aro tho chief witnesses, to attend it was adjourned. SERVICE OAR OVER BANK. TWO OCCUPANTS INJURED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] XGABUAWAHJA, Monday. A motor accident occurred this afternoon on Button's Hill, on tho Great South Road, half a mile south of Taupiri, when a service car proceeding from Hamilton to Auckland went over a bank and capsized. Of the nine passengers two wcro slightly injured. Tho service car was seriously damaged. KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. MAN DIES IN HOSPITAL. [HV TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Monday. When attempting to cross tho road near tho Lower Hutt railway station yesterday Mr. John Ernest Alexandra, single, aged 45 years, of Lower Ilutt, was knocked down by a motor-car. Ho sustained a fracture of tho skull and several scalp and facial wounds and died in tho hospital shortly after noon to-day
