The smiled friendly societies of Paeros, Kavau.sjahake, Waikino and Waihi visited Ta.uvai.ga bv special excursion train on Saturday. The weather was fine and about pwplo made tho trip. Tho local friendly society and tho visitors held sports on tho Domain, where over 50 va>i:es took place. Many of tho visitors picnicked on tho Domain and others visited Mount Maunganui and the beaches adjacent to tho town. Tho Waihi Federal Hand also made tho trip and rendered programmes. Tho Tauranga Borough Council has agreed to support tho Wellington City Council's protest to tho Government against, tho provision in tho motor regulations compelling local authorities to erect traflic signs at railway or tramway crossings; also the regulations requiring local bodies to erect signs in streets to indicato tho tu-cas in which speed limits aro reduced below thoso mentioned in the regulations.
