CAMBRIDGE CARNIVAL.
SHOPPING WEEK OPENED. [nv I KLEGKAPH. OWN CORr.ESI'OS'DENT. ] CAMBRIDGE. Monday. Cambridge was en fete today when the first shopping carnival week was opened by the member of Parliament for the district, Mr. F. Lye. Tho town presents a very pay appearance with bunting and other decorations flying in the streets. Tho business people have entered into tho spirit of the movement with enthusiasm and not for many years have the shops presented such a bright attractive appearance.
This afternoon when the fixture was officially opened in the presence of tho Mayor," Mr. T. F. Richards, and the president of the carnival, Mr. C, F. V.ango, there was a very large assembly in Victoria Street. Throughout the week sports competitions and other attractions will bo held daily with dancing and other entertainments each evening. Tho carnival will conclude on Saturday afternoon with a grand floral fete in Victoria Square.
