'J lie annual meeting of tho Hcnders/m branch of the W.C.T.U. was held in the Presbyterian Church on Friday evening. In the absence of the president, Mrs. Piatt, the chair was occupied by the vicepresident, Miss Duncan. Tho secretary, Mrs. \V. S. A\ illiams, read tho annual report-, which was adopted. The treasurer's statement showed that an additional guinea had been paid to the organising fund and one pound to the convention expenses. Tho committee appointed to arrange tho meeting at which the prizes won by the school children for the best essay on "Temperance" will be given, made its report. A letter was read from the election officials expressing their appreciation of tho excellent manner in which the union' had catered for all tho workers on election day. Tho election of officers for tho ensuing year resulted as follows President, Mrs. Piatt; vice-presidents. Miss Duncan, Mrs. Perkins and Mrs. Yearbury; secretary, Mrs. T. McKay; treasurer, Mrs. W. G. Williams; look out member, Mrs. A. For-son-Stewart; cradle roll superintendent, Mrs. J. Yearbury; white Hbbon agent, Miss K. Duncan; reporter, Mrs. Williams. As (he president, Mrs. Piatt, was absent through illness in tho family, it was agreed that a letter of sympathy be sent to her.
