HORTICULTURAL SHOW.

GOOD DISPLAY AT NEW LYNN. DETAILS OF THE AWARDS. 7he first show of the recently formed New Lynn and District Horticulture Society was held in St. Thomas' llall, New Lynn, on Saturday. There was a large attendance in the afternoon and again in the evening. In opening the show Mr. H. G. R. Mason, .M.P., said it was some years since a similar show had been held in New Lynn, and he expressed the hope that tho new society, would receive tho same support as the ono that had preceded it, which was a credit to any district. Tho outstanding features of the show were the magnificent display of roses by Messrs. Cutler and Meikle, a fine arrangement of ferns and palms by Mr. A. W. Palmer, and a collection of cut flowers by Mr. J{. Wright. New varieties of gladioli displayed by Messrs. G. Jv. Gilliam, fi. .A, Jeffrey and W. Keir, were greatly admired. Tho awards were as follows:

IJoscs, open class.— Distinct variety, hybrid perpetuuo and hybrid tcus, .Messrs. Cutler and Meikle. 1: trusses, climbing, Mr. W. Kcir; blooms in vases, Messrs. Cutler ami Meikle. 1; bowl of roses, Mrs. 11. Cutler, 1. Champion Hose.—Mr. W. Keir.
