GRASSHOPPER PEST.
ALARM IN AUSTRALIA. Great alarm was recently caused in the Wagga district, New South Wales, by lepoits that enntmons swarms of grasshoppers were advancing rapidly upon it from Iho north Ihe reports dissipated the sense of security that farmers have felt since they took steps to eradicate breeding-places of Ihe pest by means of poison, and they teared greatly for (he safety of their crops.
