WATER FOR PAPATOETOE.
SANCTION GIVEN TO LOAN. Imposing certain conditions', the Local Government Loans Board has approved the raising of a loan of £40,000 for a water supply scheme for Papatootoo- Tho board has recommended the Government that if the poll is carried an Order-in-Council should ho issued to restrict tho loan to £22,000 nt present. A poll of ratepayers is fixed for December 19. With tho £22,000, and pending tho raising of the whole of the amount, it is proposed to put in a pumping-plant nt tho foot of McLaughlin's Mountain, at tho foot of which is tho supply well. A small reservoir will also be built, and water mains laid.
Tho complete scheme provides for the building of ;i water-tower and tho reticulation of outer areas. The well which will lie utilised gives a flow of approximately one million gallons a week. Health Department anaJyscs of tho water show it to bo of excellent quality,#
