WEEK-END WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:— Mainly fair to fine weather is indicated over most of the Dominion during the week-end, with increasing cloudiness, for a change in conditions to follow at the beginning of the week, when rain of a fairly general nature is expected to follow. Southerly to south-easterly winds, inoderato to strong, decreasing, and giving place to increasing northerlies everywhere after about 24 hours. Seas mainly moderate, but increasing on the east coast shortly. Barometric pressure is likely to decrease, particularly in the South Island, duo to a disturbance approaching from the west, affecting most of New Zealand during the latter part of Sunday. Warmer temperatures. Barometer, midnight, rising .. 30.00 in, Midnight, Thursday .. .. 29.90 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—The depression yesterday over tho Tasman is now commencing to cross New Zealand, but is much reduced in intensity. A moderate aiiticyclono is centred over south-eastern Australia. Indications are for moderate to strong west to north winds, reaching gale force at times in exposed positions in and south of Cook Strait, backing'to southerlies again later in southern districts. Rather rough seas about Cook Strait. Elsewhere smooth to moderate. Moderate to strong northerly and later backing to southerly winds in the eastern Tasman, with rather rough seas in the southern, and moderate in the northerly portions. Cloudy and with scattered showers in tho western and southern portions of the South Island, otherwise mainly fair to fine. Temperatures warm at first, becoming cooler later. More generally unsettled conditions probable after 24 hours.
