TO KEEP TILL CHRISTMAS. 'I his is taken from a very old notebook: "Top and in : .| the gooseberries, and put theni fresh from the trees into dry glass bottles; shake them down as fully as possible, for this is important. Have good corks ready, and resin the outside v.ell; then bury deep in tho garden, corks down, and you may have green gooseberry tart with your Christmas dinner/'
Note.—'lbis is advocated by many for the preservation of all sorts of green fruits.
