CHEERIO GAZETTES.

A NEW IDEA. Now I will tell you about that "new idea" for the gareites for tho little patients in King George V. Hospital, Rotorua. When 1 called on Matron a week or two ago, she pointed out one serious disadvantage in the present form of gazette —being the full page it was difficult for a little patient to handle when lying down in bed. Sho therefore suggested that instead of sending the full page, our members might mako up "Cheerio Scrap-books" from " Loys and Girls." You could cut out any stories, jokes, articles or anything else you liked, colour up ilie pictures, and arrange them in your book. The latter could be made of brown paper, or any other thick paper, and this idea, of course, would do away with the difficulty of pasting the pages on to calico as at present. The album could bo made on the loose-leaf plan, that is, with tho pages punched and tied to gether with cord or ribbon, and then you could mako it up as you go along. Size of " Cheerio Scrap-books should tie about fourteen !bv twelve inches. Any thing larger would bo awkward for tho little folk to handle Those who are already making up Cheerio Gazettes for November may finish samo and forward them, and prizes will be awarded. " Cheerio Scrap-books" aro to begin with the December pages, so as to give you all a fair start. Becauso these will come as Christmas gifts, you may add any other pretty pictures or cards you wish but vou must not forget to put in " Bib and" Bub," and other interesting 'eahires of our pnge. Book prizes and consolation prizes will be awarded for tho best scrap-books sent in to matron bv the end of Decern her J here are fi'ftv "iris and boys under trea'rnent at tho hospital, so we wa.nt all the books we can get Address all scrap-books to: I he Matron, King George V. Hospital, Rotorua, and bo sure and give your full name, address, and age on first page.
