t All readers of " Boys and Girls " are invited to take part in the New . Zealand Herald 1928 Christmas Competitions, which are now open to all children from six to sixteen years of age. The subjects aro it 31 6s follows: J ORIGINAL CHRISTMAS STORY (not Fairy Story). Must be writer's # own work, and have ;v New Zealand setting. This does not necessarily mean a story of Maori life. Not more than 500 words. Open to boys and girls from 13 to 16 years old. Two prizes, ono for boys, one for girls. ONE GUINEA EACH. >|£ SPECIAL ESSAY: " New Year's Eve, 1999, A.D." Not moro than ■# 450 words. Boys arid girls, 10 to 12. >& Two prizes, one for girls, one for bovs. ONE GUINEA EACH. NEW ZEALAND FAIRY STORY: "Why Mr. Kiwi was Late for the Party." Not moro than 400 words. For the little folk, 6 to 9. Two prizes, one for girls, one for bovs HALF-GUTNEA EACH. # ORIGINAL POEM: "I Sent a Note'to Santa." Girls and Boys, * # 12 to 16 only.
