TOURIST ACCOMMODATION.
COMPLETE PROVISION MADE. Tourists and others who are contemplating a trip to the Tongariro National Park, Mount Cook, or the Southern Lakes district are assured of every convenience and comfort in accommodation and travel. A contract for the erection of tho new chateau at the Tongariro National Park has been let for a sum of over £70,000, and the building will be completed byDecember of next year. In the meantime, a comfortable lodge will bo erected, which will be opened for the coming Christmas. A married couple and staff will be present, and visitors can bo assured of every attention. Ir: the past it has been the custom of tourists to hire tho mountain huts and bring their own equipment, but although this arrangement will still be possible, it will no longer be necessary for visitors to the lodge to bring equipment. For the benefit of those using the Whakapapa huts, to save the inconvenienco of providing and cooking their own food, meals will be obI tainable at moderate cost. Arrangements are being marie for a motor service, which will convey tourists from the National Park railway station to the lodge. Equally adequate provision for tourist traffic exists at Mount Cook, whore the Hermitage affords accommodation equal to tho best of other countries, while means of transport leave nothing to be desired. Similar arrangements aro to he found in the Southern Lakes district, where tours may be made and accommodation had at very moderate rates.
