TAMAKI YACHT CLUB. - FIRST SERIES OF RACES. The Tamaki Yacht Club will hold its first series of races this afternoon, all events starting and finishing off Kohiniaraina Wharf. All small classes and outboard motorboats are being catered for. The outboards include seven of Auckland's fastest craft, and keen interest is boing taken in tho races for these boats. The officers for (he day will lie: Starter and judge, Mr. W. A. Wilkinson; timekeeper, Captain 11. C. Barnos. Following are the entries and handicaps : M Class, to start at 2.40 p.m. Course, from starting lino between end of Kohimarnma Wharf and starting launch moored north, thence round bastion light beacon on starboard, thence round mark boat north-east of Bean Rock, on .starboard, thence round mark boat off St. Reliefs Bay Wharf on starboard, twico round, finishing at starting lino. The starting launch is riot a mark except at tho start and finish. Manene, Maratea, Mawhiti, Maroro, Mischief and Matarere, all scratch.
V Class, to start at 2.50 p.m. Course same as M class. Drone, scratch; Surprise, lm; Wild Wave (old sail), 3jrti; Scud, sm.
Star Class, to start at 3 p.m. Course, same as M class. Ola IV., Moa and June, all scratch.
T and X Classes, to start at 3.10 p.m. Course, same as M class. Kismet, scratch; Vol, £m; Marie, 2im; Rangi, 2J,m. Tui, sm; Jean, sm; Shirley, sm; Maybolle, Bm. Y Class, to start at 3.10 p.m. Course, same as M class."*Opah, scratch; Jupiter, 2jm; Elf, 6ni; Valencia, 6m; Caprice 11., bin! Z Class, to start at 3.20 p.m. Course, same as M class, once round. Lai Lai, Ace and post entries. Out boards, to start at 3.30 p.m. — Class R and Class C (separate events). Course from starting line, round mark off St. Ilrliers Wharf on starboard and return. Kntrics: Miss Arawa, Miss Tamaki. Miss Akarana, Humbug, Rainbow, The Hawk, Yavo, and post entries. THE CORNWELL CUP. CONTEST AT LYTTELTON. The special committee appointed by tlio Takapuna Boating Club to deal with arrangements for the Cornwell Cup contest, decided yesterday to grant permission to the Canterbury Sailing and Power-boat Association to hold the contest at Lyttelton. The races for the cup will .start on January 19. A challenge has already been received from Wellington, and several others are expected to follow shortly.
Entries for the contest \yill closo with the secretary of the Cornwell Cup committee, Mr. C. iloverd, next. Saturday. The first special trial races to decide flic Auckland representatives, will be commenced on Saturday. December 8, by the Tnkapuna Routing Club. ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL. AUCKLAND REFEREES. Advice has been received from Wellington that Messrs, E. F. Miller, W. K. Tugbv and E. R. Wilson, members of the Auckland Football Referees' Association. have been awarded badges of membership with the New Zealand Referees' Association, having satisfied that body by examination of their fitness to hold the badges.
