A STORY OF "SPIRITS."

MEDIUM FALLS INTO TRAP. EXPOSURE BY STUDENTS. Four medical students in Cardiff, Wales, ■who abandoned their studies owing to a dispute between the National School of Wales and the Cardiff Royal Infirmary authorities, lately turnad their attention to another form of scientific research. Tho startling "spirit" message delivered to the aged parents of a naval man who fell in the war—whom one of the students knew Ultimately—was responsible for arousing their interest. The message to the elderly people from tho son at a seanco was Jo pack up their belongings and get out of the town. The old people had attended several seances held by the man and his woman colleague and had parted with 7s 6d a sitting. They sought the advice of their medical student friend. It was arranged that the couple should seek another sitting and this they did, and the spiritualist readily agreed when the old people promised to bring along four new girl clients. After some "messages" had been given to the old people, one of the "girls" wished to know if her late husband would release her from a vow pledged on his death-bed, not to marry again. After some mysterious communing with the spirit of the dead "husband," the answer came clear and definite, "Tho vow must stand."

The four "girls" promptly rose and, turning on the light, threw off their disguises. They were the four medical students who had dressed as girls to expose the medium and his colleague. After eliciting a confession from the medium that he was not a member of any of the recognised spiritualist societies, but was simply out to get a living, the students gave him and his companion 12 hours to leave Cardiff. They were requested to name the district they intended to go to, so that a warning could be passed along.
