CHARGE OF BOOKMAKING. FINE OF £2O IMPOSED. Charged with carrying on the business of a bookmaker, Leslie George Donaldson, aged 29 (Mr. McLiver) was fined £2O in the Police Court yesterday. • Chief-Detectivo Hammond said Donaldson was "a silver bettor," carrying on in a small way. principally among wharf labourers. He had been fined C'iO for a similar offence previously. Counsel said accused, who was out of employment, was married and had a family.
Tho magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, in imposing the fine, gave accused two weeks in which to pay it.
