MANY DIVORCES GRANTED.

VARIOUS GROUNDS ADVANCED

PETITIONS NOT DEFENDED. Undefended petitions in divorce worn dealt with by Mr. .Justice Blair arid Mr. Justice Frazer in tho Supreme Court yesterday. Tho number of cases taken was much smaller than usual.

Adultery was stated as the ground for divorco in tho petition of Maria Mary Tucker (Mr. Schramm) against Poland Tucker. Petitioner said sho was married in 1906. In 1915 sho came to Auckland for medical treatment, and was left hero under the doctor's care, while her husband took tho tlireo children to Il.nvkc's J lay. Sho later learned from tho children that her husband and bis housekeeper wero living as man and wife.

Harold Tucker, son of petitioner, said ho resided with his father in llawkc's Pi.iy for some time. Tho housekeeper was a captain in tho Salvation Army, and thcro wero threo children born to her. A decree nisi was granted.

"I suppose people are liable to forget these little things," remarked Mr. Justice P>lair, when he found that tho date of tho marriage certificates of William Charles Leoni (Mr. Duller) and Doiothy Pearl Leoni did not agree with that on the petition papers. "Throughout my married lite my husband neglected mo altogether, and as a result I had to go out and work to support the two children, said Adah Marion Higgison (Mr. Matthews), who petitioned against Alfred Ilenry Higgison on the ground of desertion. Petitioner said that as a result of having to work she could not caro properly for the children, and one had been taken from her by the State. Sho was granted a decree nisi against her husband, William Henderson, picture show proprietor, on tho grounds of misconduct, with interim custody of her five children. Habitual cruelty and drunkenness by her husband were alleged by Mary Ann Emily Cantell (Mr. Matthews) to be the cause of an unhappy married life, when she petitioned against Frederick Herbert Cantell. Petitioner said sho was separated in 1924 and had not lived with her husband since. A decree nisi was granted.

Absence of Both Parties. Beatrice Mary Suddens (.Mr. Glaister) said her husband, Randolph George Suddens, a seaman, had told her shortly after their marriage that ho did not intend to make a home for her or keep her. She had taken proceedings in the Magistrate's Court for maintenance. Mi. Glaister said it was admitted the child horn shortly after I tie marriage; was not Suddens' child, but His Honor pointed out it was born in wedlock. It was stated that proceedings against Suddens for the child's maintenance had been unsuccessful. A decree nisi was granted. Amelia Christina Mabel Lawn (Mr. Matthews) petitioned against John Henry Lawn on the ground of adultery. Petitioner said she was married in 1917 and lived at Henderson. There were two children. Respondent 'recently told her frankly he bad other women and did not want her. He left her last Christmas. Ho had returned to the house once since then, when ho brought another woman with him. The case was adjourned for further evidence.

There was considerable legal discussion when a petition by Simpson, of Sydney (Mr. Dickson), against William Simpson, of England, was brought before Mr. .Justice Frazer. Counsel stated the parlies had been separated for many years. There had been a mistake regarding the postage of certain papers from England and owing to the long delay petitioner became impatient and left for Sydney before the case was set down for hearing. The Judge said he was satisfied everything was in order and granted a decree nisi. Miscellaneous Cases.
