THE PARNELL BATHS.

MANY IMPROVEMENTS MADE. SPLENDID QUALITY OF WATER. The City Council's saltwater baths at Parnell were opened for tlic summer last week. The clear and sparkling waters appear very inviting from tho cliffs above, and an inspection reveals improvements since last season which have added greatly to the attractiveness of (ho baths. The attendance last Sunday was 442 adults and 1186 children.

The installation of a chlorinatinn plant which will ensure the cleanliness of tho water is a factor which will contribute largely to the popularity of (he pool this season. The water has been examined by I)r. T. J. Hughes, medical oflicei uf health, who has expressed complete, satisfaction with its quality. Chlorination is effected in the intake pipe before tho water enters the baths, and the clarity of the water gives ample testimony of the efliciencv of the plant. Tests have shown that the water is now a great ileal above the standard required for healthy bathing conditions. An addition which will be appreciated bv the public* is n shed containing com - plele first-aid facilities for use in case of accidents. Renovations to the surrounding fences and buildings have done much to improve the appearance of the baths, and automatic turgstiles have been provided.

The caretaker, Mr. W. Pay, who is responsible for the control of the baths, intends to insist upon bathers remaining within the fences, and not visiting the waters outside.
