STOCKS AND SHARES.

THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE, GOOD BUSINESS YESTERDAY. Current values were mainly sustained on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, when good business was done. Inquiry for Government securities was not so great as earlier in the week, and in several cases offers were slightly reduced. No business was done in the section. Hank shares were still in demand, however. Australians of Commerce changed hands at 33s 6(1, the current price, at two calls. The ruling rate, Csl 15s, was also given for New South Wales. New Zealands wero done at 61s 6d, the (jurrent level, with more available at that' figure, buyers 61s 3d. Unions changed hands at £ls 7s. the price paid last week.

In insurance, there was no considerable movement. The only transaction was a sale of South British at 63s 9d, a drop of threepence on the price paid earlier in the week. In gas Auckland sold at 23s and 23s Id, the'current level. In shipping offers for Dovonport Forrys improved threepence to 3d, but holders wanted 24s 9d. Northerns were done at Tuesday's slightly reduced level of 13s lOd.

In brewery shares New Zealands changed hands at 55s and 55s 3d, tho latter being the best price realised sinco tho steady advance commenced in July. In miscellaneous British Tobaccos _ had sale at 445, tho current value. Colonial Sugars were inquired for at £63 5s at all calls, an advance of 15s on recent offers, but holders continued silent. Wilsons Cements could be had at 40s, the recent market price, but 39s 9d was the buyers' limit.

Interest m mining shares was reflected in iv salt) of Lucky Shots (4s paid} at ninepence. Ohiucmuris changed hands twice at 7s 2d, the ruling level, while Wailiis registered a further slight advance bv selling at 13s sil at the first call, and 13s 6d at the remaining calls.
